I’m looking at doing a lake trout ice fishing trip next year! I’ve fished burntside and snowbank before in the past but it’s been so long just curious on if the gunflint trail is doing better or if ely will be the best bet!

Check out the Boundary Waters Canoe Area forum. BWCA.com. Good luck.

I have no personal experience fishing either area for Lakers but a co worker was just up on the gun flint and they brought home their 9 man limit.

If I’m correct on the BWCA areas you have to use a hand auger, not electric or gas, correct?

Correct. And travel on foot only.
