I’m glad you had a good experience. I don’t know the guy at all…like I mentioned, I don’t have a good reason for not liking him. Something about his demeanor that irks me for some reason. It’s a “get off my lawn” kinda thing I guess.

He’s obviously built a good business…there are a whole lotta YouTube guys vying for views and he’s getting them. I’ll give him credit for that.

The guys filming/producing shows or content that I’ve run into are generally pretty polite. The old IDO crew was nice when I ran into them on Pool 4 years ago too. We ran into Gillespie’s crew with a local down by Wabasha fishing a wingdam. We were calling it a day on a wingdam as they were coming out to fish it. We compared notes for a bit and that crew seemed nice.

More often than not, it’s the guides around here on the river that are the a**holes. Some of them are awesome, but there are a few that rub everyone the wrong way. There are 2 off the top of my head who I wouldn’t fish with for free.

I’d add to this that if you purchase from a reputable retailer like Scheels… there is a really good chance they’d handle your warranty claim if you ever needed to use it. I got my Elliott rods from 1,000 Lakes Sporting Goods in Grand Rapids and they are who I would call if I had issues. Lots of those places will help you get taken care of. In my experience anyway.

Well both the 6 10 and 7 3 elliotts are awesome rods. Caught alot of fish on both, broke them in on rainy fishing 3/8 jig and plastic. I’m excited to throw some 1/4s on it after opener. They seemed far from fragile. We beat the hell out of them and they took it. Happy so far

Couldn’t agree more on the guide part .

Good rods have gotten very expensive.

Exactly why I’ve given up on “good rods”. Grab two or three “decent” rods for the price of one “good” one. Ffs. And that does not stand for forward facing sonar.

I can stand a friend breaking one and not feel conflicted.

Or should I say “fair weather fishing friend”…

Either way that’s mostly on me, but I’ve broken a few tips myself tripping on river rocks at night. Clutz, putz or not, I can’t see spending 200-500 on a fishing rod. 120 is crazy bad enough IMO

Accidents happen to all of us, but if a friend grabs one of my fishing rods I just expect them to care for it like it’s their own. I mean my main fishing partner is 13 so I see stuff get broken. As long as it isn’t negligence then sh!t happens. The kid broke a st croix legend last year when we hiked down to the river. Rod tip caught a branch and he was pretty upset with him self. But 2 emails and 75 bucks I had a new one enroute. I like quality gear but I have a cap for sure.

I would never invite a “friend” that would break a rod and not have any remorse. Granted i only fish with one other guy really with musky rods that are pretty tough to break anyway.

I swear I saw some Elliot rods in the clearance section at Fleet Farm the other day.

Fleet farm now sells both 2b and elliott but they definitely weren’t in the clearance section at neither the ff I go to.

I believe Fleet farm just picked up Elliot and 2B with the sale to ACME this year. Before that they were mostly at smaller shops and Scheels. I have a few and so far so good.

The 6’10” ML JTX is a sweet plastics rod…works well 1/8 to 5/16.

I’ve got a buddy who broke a couple of Elliott rods. May have been his fault????

Fleet farm has some great deals on rods if you visit them at the right time. 13 omen gold yesterday for 65 dollars originally 120.

I absolutely love my Elliotts. Their 7’3 ML Fast action is by far my favorite rod I’ve ever used, I have a few. Great action to help with big head shakes, plenty of power to drive a hookset home, and after a bit of use I learned to love the syncork handles. Pull cranks and immediately feel the smallest of weed specs, pitch 1/8 oz jigs, drag Dubuques w/ 1/2 oz and heavier.. all around great rod.
