Whats the consensus on these from the guys who use them ?
I got a nice gift card from the boss for doing a Saturday job no one else wanted to do. I just went and picked up 2 Elliott rods with it. A 6 10 ml xf and a 7 3ml f action.
Not that I need any more walleye rods, but I seen them and decided to blow the gift card on them. Hoping I made the right choice.
I have a couple carbon x ii reels that I’ll throw on them. And I’ll break them in on rainy in a week.

Other than Boley using them I’ve heard good things. I don’t know why but I can’t stand that guy.

I don’t watch his videos. I guess i don’t really watch many fishing videos. Unless I’m looking for specifics, I find fishing videos to be terribly boring

I have 3 of them and absolutely love them, very light and well balanced. I have the 7, 7-3, and 7-6 all ML

I looked at the 7 6, but I couldn’t justify 3 of them. Figured I’d use the remaining balance of the gift card to be fuel in my truck back and forth to the rainy.

I have been kicking around an Elliot 7’3 ML or a JTX Mag ML.
Let me know what you think of them.

When we meet up on the rainy I’ll let you use the 7’3 for a outing. Then you can see if it’s for you or not. I just got home and slapped the cabon x iis on them and they both feel great.

Nice gesture by the boss. I’m sure you earned it. Take a second and snap a picture and text him a thank you. Well done!

I love my 6’10 with a carbon x ii. Haven’t had to deal with warranty but that seems to be peoples gripe with them. At least before the acme acquisition. I’ve never had an issue dealing with acme or beaver dam so hopefully that helps improve the Elliot/2b warranty experience.

I can’t speak for the Elliot rods but that JTX mag ML is an awesome rod. Love them for throwing plastics.

Lotta good rods in this category. Comes down the personal preference imho.

Both Elliot and JT rods are great. The Elliot can be gotten with two different handles, one is a little smaller than the other. JT rods on some models can be bought with a Tennessee handle. You have choices.

Last summer I took my brother and his buddy on the river. They were about a 12 pack deep each and tried to KVD a few pound walleye and busted one of my JT’s…he’s like “I’ll pay for it…it’s probably like a hundred bucks, right?”

I told him “yeah, something like that. Just keep your money.”

Good rods have gotten very expensive.

Playing with them in the garage, they feel fantastic. I’m excited to throw some jigs with them. The syn grip i haven’t had before I love a Tennessee cork handle but the syn grip feels good in the hand as I pretend to jig in my garage while it’s snowing like no other at the moment

I had used JTs for years, and liked them. I ended up selling them and going to the Elliot’s. The only reason I like the Elliot’s betters is because you can get a fatter cork (or synthetic or whatever) handle. I have trouble with my hands when it’s cold and holding that narrow JT handle all day was fatiguing for me.

I’ve really come to prefer that 7’3” MLF. You’ll be happy with those rods.

I just bought the 7′-6″ Elliot thinking I would use it on GB for hair jigs and maybe rippin raps. I used it for the first time on Thursday on the river pulling a dubuque rig. I do like the rod and look forward next week using it for it’s original purpose. I paired it with a shimano vanford. On a side note I went to buy a JT black reign but those rods were not in yet, so I went with the Elliot.

Yep…my atrocious experiences with 2B/Elliott is why I have absolutely no intention of ever being a customer again and will share my opinion on that every time I can. On the other hand, the personal experiences I’ve had with JT, TUCR, St. Croix, and Limit Creek have made me a customer for life and I share that opinion as often.

I hope it works out for you BC and you enjoy the rods.

Elliots are nice but they are more fragile than others. I have broken 4+ of the open water rods. 1 was my fault the others were questionable craftsmanship. The 7’3″ is a very nice/ versatile rod

I have numerous Elliot rods and have been pleased with most of them. The up side is they have a more moderate to fast action in their blanks then others. I do not like extra fast rods and many companies seem to have more of them then other blanks. The honest downside is I did not like the rods with the “Hidden handle”
reel seats. Make sure you get the performance handles. Very sensitive and I feel the blanks are as strong as any I have used.

What was the warranty issue ?

First to paragraphs snipped from my post a few years back and edited for brevity.

Purchased two of their Genesis 6’6 ML-F (2 piece) rods on sale for $110 each on April 29 (2023), directly purchased from the 2B website. One of the rods broke right where the two pieces connect, strange. This occurred the second time the rod was used, and when my son was reeling in a 12 inch white bass. The bass made a run and the rod snapped. I filled out the online forms, yes, there are two forms, and sent in pictures. One form talks about Accidental Use and asks for the consumer to pay $75 in yr one for a replacement rod that breaks due to misuse or accident. I explained that this wasn’t the case, so I was directed to a “Manufacturer Defect” claim. This requires me to pay to ship the rod in ($20) to be inspected. I did that, paid to ship it to them for the next step. Upon inspection I was told “rod looks to have been overstressed causing it to break in the guide wrap, but that likely was a manufacturing flaw on our end.”. That particular rod was discontinued so options were offered at that same price point for replacement options. I discussed use and came to the conclusion that a rod they offer for $189 would be a better option and offered to pay the difference. That offer was accepted and I was sent an invoice. The issue was the invoice included the difference in price and that applicable tax, plus some additional costs (around $15-20). I asked what this additional cost was and was told it was the cost of a rod tube and shipping. At that point I wasn’t thrilled with the experience and shared with 2B that (1) I had very different experiences with other companies in the same line of work, (2) That I didn’t think I should have to pay to ship a rod in to them that broke on its 2nd use with no misuse and then to be told that it was a manufacturer defect and asked to pay for a rod tube and shipping to have a new one shipped to me when I paid for an upgrade. I told them to pick an option; send me a replacement in the $110 options they provided or refund the original cost (with their logic I should’ve asked for reimbursement on my cost for sending in a rod that was a manufacturer defect). I shared that I want to be done with the experience and get to a conclusion as this has been a hassle. Very negative overall experience.

Update… Used my other 2B Genesis rod for the second time since purchase. Tip broke on the second cast. Has been stored in a rod tube in my boat the entire time. After the hassle last time I’m not even gonna bother with a return. $189 retail rod that is 2 for 2 with breaks within first two times being used, coupled with very poor warranty/customer service. No thanks, done with these.

Broke our 3rd rod made by 2B reeling in a 16 inch northern. After past fiascos with their “customer service” and “warranty” plan I’m not even bothering to send this in or make them aware. Hope others had and have better luck but we will not buy anymore of their products.

Since this debacle I have given away or traded, or sold all 2B and Elliott rods I owned and share my opinion of their product service every chance I get. Quick search on this page for past conversations and google will bring results similar as to my interaction.

Sounds like those were all the cheaper line of the 2b rods, not that actual Elliott rods ?
Are they all manufactured here or is the cheaper line over seas ? Only asking because of have no idea. I did play with a 2b rod and it didn’t feel any where near as nice as the Elliott but that was just in store. So I could be wrong.

I had my reservations buying the Elliot Rod when I saw Acme was associated with them. Most things Acme are tied to have now turned to crap. I looked to see where the Elliot rods were made, and saw they are still made in MN, so I gave one a shot. Time will tell.

Other than Boley using them I’ve heard good things. I don’t know why but I can’t stand that guy.

My opinion of him is the opposite. He’s not screaming, yelling, loud, or whatever while fishing. Most of his content is solid stuff and he’s got a calm demeanor.

I’ve never paid for his content but have seen some YouTube videos and even ran into him on Pool 4 a while back. He was launching in Lake City and was a polite guy. I didn’t know it was him specifically, but saw the camera gear and realized it after the fact. He approached us and asked how the bite was and so on.

I’m glad you had a good experience. I don’t know the guy at all…like I mentioned, I don’t have a good reason for not liking him. Something about his demeanor that irks me for some reason. It’s a “get off my lawn” kinda thing I guess.

He’s obviously built a good business…there are a whole lotta YouTube guys vying for views and he’s getting them. I’ll give him credit for that.

I’m not sure on where manufacturing did or now does take place. I’ve heard the 2B line is all done in China, and Elliott components are made in China and assembled in Bemidji…but with the sale to Acme…I don’t really know and after my experience I don’t plan to find out.

The 2B line was/is their entry/economical line. I have heard of similar issues with the Elliott line and read some online. Regardless or where a rod was made or what line it is, their policies and practices for customer service are my issue and I wanted to share that for consideration. I hope the rods work out for you and your experience is more positive then mine.
