I am relatively new to the Elk River area and was wondering if there are any good spots in the area for shore fishing for catfish.

    Would appreciate any advice.

    Thanks

THERE is a dam on the south end of lake orono that holds channels in the spring I am not sure about this time of year but might be worth a try.It dumps into the ol’ miss a little bit down stream.

also just north of Monticello there is a boat launch and I know for a fact people get channels and walleye off the bank. its about 15-20 min north west of elk river

Monti boat launch has brought some nice channels in but always at night. And last few times up year or two ago the police always kicked you out. Haven’t been back since.

Sorry for the delayed reply as I was just killing time today. The Mississippi River holds a lot of nice sized channels as I really slammed them this August. You could easily go across the 101 bridge to Otsego then head up the east side of the highway, you can get to the south side of the bridge there. Park and walk down and cast behind the pillars with a crawler or catfish bait.
