You’re going to want to network them all if you plan on using the link feature of the ulterra. You can still select the ulterra transducer as the sonar source for your front graph when networked.

I believe you can do that . The transducer cord would go to your bow mount and your Ethernet will go to the switch.

The unit i was thinking of putting up front is an extra 7 that I would have that is a non-networking model. That is why I’m trying to figure out if I can just plug the motor ducer to it and hook it to a battery and have it separate from everything else and use it for basic depth and di. Thanks for the info so far. Hopefully I’m explaining everything good enough

Yes you can do it that way. Just so you know, the helix has to be a Gen 3 for MDI to work. I bought a Helix 9 G3 for the console and put my G1 in the bow. All that will work is the sonar. I verified that with Humminbird techs. If I want MDI to work in front I have to buy another G3 according to them. Good Luck

The 7 is a g3 mega imaging unit. Wish I would have bought the g3n originally. Lesson learned. Didn’t realize at the time I would be making these changes. Was hoping this would work out. Sounds like it should. Thanks for the info slowpoke
