Electronic interference

We all have had interference when fishing too close to another angler with a sonar…some new units even offer an adjustment to tune frequency to tune them out.
This winter, I was in my fish house with my HB Helix, and a guy moved relatively close outside, and he was using a GARMIN unit with a pedistal down the hole.. Occasionally, my screen would get cluttered with what looked like random interference.
At the time, I wondered if that was his signal I was seeing…wasn’t continuous.
Would it only be if he was rotating his transducer, or is it directional?
Would two or more guys with Garmins affect each others signals?
    Range?

Garmin I would think wouldn’t interfere with each other or you wouldn’t be able to have one on a bow and the other on the stern of a boat. My birds don’t interfere with each other on my boat.I know a marcum with mess up my Vex if they are close to my hole ice fishing. so I think that different units use different frequencies and would interfere with each other.
