Hey guys looking to buy an electric pressure washer, how do they people like the electric ones? Is there certain ones that I should look at? Would like to move away from gas assuming the electric ones are not bad

How often do you use it! 3 or 4 times a year and the Harbor Freight model is just fine for around the house.

They’re good for smaller projects like washing vehicles/boats/toys etc.

I bought a Snap-On from Menards a number of years ago. Still going strong….Just used it today in fact.

But if you’re used to gas and expecting similar performance, you will be disappointed lol

I’ve had an 1800 PSI from Home Depot for over 10 years. It won’t die. It’s so faded I can’t read the brand, but I think its a Kracher.

As B-Man says, if you’re used to a gas 3000+ psi machine, electric won’t compare.

I’ve been trying to talk myself into going with a gas unit, but it’s just so nice to just plug in and go. No gas, no engine noise, and the only maintainance is making sure there’s no water in the pump to freeze. Plenty of pressure for washing vehicles, boats, RVs and as a plus, you’re not going to damage anything with an electric unit. I’ve even cleanded construction equip and tractors and just use a good degreaser first and the electric has enough power for even that. Not as fast, sure, but cheap and quiet.

Only thing I don’t like is the hose on mine is only 20 feet long and since the hose/gun has no quick disconnect you can’t just add more hose.

Guess I’m missing something here. I have an electric power washer and it will strip the paint off equipment and trucks if I’m not careful.

Mine is a 2,000 psi, it does a nice job, but I don’t have to worry about it peeling paint off my pickup. Decals need caution though.

I can tell you from personal experience that they don’t work very well after they roll off your roof and hit the driveway.

I’ve used both, I prefer the gas version.

Mine is 4,000 psi with up to 200 degree hot water. Guess we are not comparing apples to apples.

Holy Carp, didn’t know they made one capable of that. Is it 240v?

    What’s the gpm?

I ran a Hotsy several years ago that worked very well with the burner and hot water. I switched now to a 22hp 4000 PSI gas unit that is overkill for most things.

No, we’re not comparing apples to apples. I’d think you have a commercial 240V unit and I’m guessing you didn’t get that in Menards?

Most of the consumer-level electric units are 1700 to maybe 2000 PSI and less than 2 gallons per minute. No doubt they’re not as good in terms of overall power compared to gas, but the question is are they good enough for the intended use? If yes, then electric is very convenient and low maintenance.

Did definitely not buy at Menards and yes it’s 240 volts. I thought the point was being made you had to go gas to get high psi.

You must look at the ratings. I have used commercial 240v units that would push me across the slick hog farm floors like I was ice skating. The cheap home unit I have works just fine for my truck and boat but is not enough for heaver projects. One thing I did notice on my cheap one is it states in the manual that you should only hold the trigger down for 60 seconds than give it a break or it will over heat and shut down for a while. I bet you can guess how I notice this. It took 15 min to cool down and it started working again.

Northern tool makes a few good ones that run on 120 volts on a dedicated 20 amp circuit that are around 2300 psi. I have had one for many years and it works great.

I bought an electric from Menards a number of years ago. Took it back the next day. I can’t recall the psi.

This morning I just bought a RYOBI 2,300 PSI 1.2 GPM High Performance Electric Pressure Washer for $279 + tax and free shipping at Home Depot. We’ll see this spring…

Hope the FW likes here birthday gift!!

Bought my bride a new shotgun for her birthday once. She was ecstatic until she shot a skunk eating cat food inside the barn. Should have explained the merit of waiting until it had left the building before blowing it to kingdom come rather then while I was scrubbing the inside wall.

What’s next….is strikemaster going to add a 40 volt power washer to their lineup? It’s a power washer so give it power with gas.
