I have all three. Gas, haven’t run it lately and nephew borrowed gas can to use up gas…well now I have to track it down. Electric ION, I’ve neglected the batteries all summer but at least stored them pretty well charged. Low and behold they are still almost fully charged and needed a 10-15 minuet top off…very happy. Hand auger, well let’s just say having both hands in bandages from hand surgery 1 week ago, that ain’t happening. I had hand surgery last year and could not pull the recoil, so I bought the ION. Love my electric. I mounted a K-Drill since I reopen old holes left by others…works better than a fishfinder. Lol.

Got the new Kdrill out on the ice for the first time last weekend. I doubt I will fire up the gas auger again anytime soon. Cut 30-40 Holes in 10″ of ice and the batter still showed 3/4 charge. With 2 fully charged batteries I doubt I will ever need to drill more holes than it will drill. Buddy I fish with also has the K-drill and he has 3 batteries for his. I’d guess with 5 batteries we could punch 100-150 holes even with thick ice

I have a 1 yr old Honda Lite so I won’t be in the market for a long while. With the high praises I have for my 56volt Ego Mower and snow blower. No doubt my next auger will be an electric. No Gas, No carbs, no noise, what’s not to love

I’ve got a strikemaster with Honda 4 stroke. Big upgrade from my old cold blooded Jiffy 2 stroke. Technology of the electric has come a long way. Maybe when the grandkid gets older I’ll hand off the Honda and get myself an electric.

I have a two year old Eskimo Mako w/viper engine. And as soon as I can afford it, I will be getting either the Ion or Strikemaster 40V. I’ve had to replace the carb twice so far, the on/off switch once, plus all the stink that comes with gas. Electric seems the way to go…

I mostly use the Ion the last two years until late season then I pull out the gas. Especially if I need to punch a lot of holes.
