Be glad when it’s over, getting a lot of campaign texts sent to me. Didn’t sign up to follow any politicians either. Got one at like 3 in the morning

Regardless of which candidate you support, the invective in TV, radio, print, phone and text messages from various campaigns is off the charts. Especially offensive is the crap coming from out of state organizations. The mute button on my TV, the tuner on my radio gets a workout when political adds come on the air. Mail and other print ads go right into recycling without being read. Text numbers get blocked. I’ll be glad when it is over, at least for a year.

That’s the problem nowadays, the campaigning is never over!

I’ve always been curious about the marketing and advertising for other businesses during times like these. Is it just accepted among them (like a Hy-Vee or Menards for example) that you’re just not going to get a lot of ad time from August through November? My kids watch a lot of cartoons on the Youtube app on our TV and even the ads for their cartoons have content related to abortions.

I always wonder too how diligent some campaigns are in scheduling. Whenever I see an ad run after the election it makes me think someone screwed up and spent money a day or so too late.

It should be illegal to run political ads on children’s television. Disgusting, really.

I’ve already voted as well from my kitchen counter. It was nice not seeing the glares or eye rolling as I flipped my coin for selections and sipped a beer. The town hall people always used to get so mad with me and my voting routine.

I won’t be hunting, but working and then probably hauling corn until midnight after my first job is done. There are only so many hours in the day….

I throw ALL political mail in the trash, not the recycling. I don’t recycle garbage…

Funny story…my neighbor a few houses down is my state rep. My 5 year old ran and got the mail while I was talking to him while he was walking his dog. She walks up and rips the political ads in half (one being his) and says “I’ll throw these in the garbage. Is this garbage like the rest?” *holds up a Target catalog*…MY GIRL!

Its been years since I voted in person. Absentee for me every time. That way I can take my time and actually look up some of these no-name candidates in the local elections too.

my daughter was interviewed by the news so i watched the 10:00 evening news for the first time in a while.

it was a trashbag of some of the most ridiculous ads i’ve ever witnessed. it seemed like they shoved a few more commercial segments into a half hour show somehow and every single one was a political ad. 3/4 of them attacking the other person. I’m just like is this not good for society.

Yeah I don’t understand it Bucky. My local poll harasses me when I put my blindfold on. Honestly can’t say I have seen them roll there eyes however.

I agree with the vast majority of comments on the political stuff in the mail. However, I did receive one this week for a local race and typically you can skim the highlights of their platform and tell their political party. As I read through it I thought “this actually ALL makes sense and I could really get behind it.”

It was for a registered Independent.

With all the political stuff all Fall, then non-stop Christmas ads ’til end of year – my favorite day of 2023 might be January 2nd!

I read a story about a new law in Georgia… no sending out unsolicited, partially filled out ballots anymore. They are making this too tough on people to try to vote. crazy

Businesses can get all the ad time they want. It just costs them more during prime political ad season because suddenly there’s a lot of demand. It’s not quite August to November, the rates get really steep in October.

I ran a prefunctory search on this “story” & that’s what it is; a story.
This kind of “fact” is not helping with the division in our country.

To all the people that say get out to vote, I say Don’t get out to vote Unless you do your due diligence. There are too many ignorant voters out voting for someone they have no clue what they stand for.

Don’t vote unless you have researched beyond the TV ads.

I disqualified every local politician who slid into my text messages this election season. Don’t think it leaves anyone left. Can I get a “I didn’t vote” sticker? )
