I’m sure it’s a revenue generator for the local economy but I wonder what it costs for the extra law enforcement to watch that drunken bunch.

What’s the reason for the move?

Reading between the lines of the story it sounds like it may be because of the poor ice conditions last year and organizers actually being held responsible for the post event cleanup.

It was in the Walker paper this week. Ice conditions? Like any other lake in the area would be any better. Walker bay is deep and that is why the eelpout are there. To move it will be to kill it. Ben going for a long time and I would hate to see it anywhere else. Has to be some political reasons. Possibly to Bemidji? Lake Bemidji has pout but not as many but the town can handle the inrush of people and has better accomodations. Who knows!!

Evidently people want to spread the trash left behind to different lakes, rather than just slowly filling one.

Someone has to be held accountable for the sheer amount of waste that is left behind. It’s absolutely disgusting.

Rumor on the street up here is the organizers are very unhappy with the Cass Co. restrictions the past few years on unsafe ice. Believe me Beltrami Co will not be any different, why would any county risk it? This is just a rumor from around town.

I can see it now… eel pout festival goer tries to walk to mcdonalds and falls in near the bridge. Not sure where they would setup the festival but i can see that giant section of Lake bemidji near the bridge that has open water year round being a problem

Maybe one of the organizers had a cabin, that got given to the homeless indians.

    It’s staying in Walker.

After opposition from Bemidji, the International Eelpout Festival will stay in Walker
