Staying at Eddy’s the weekend after the opener and thought about using their launch service was wondering if anyone has ever used it before and had any luck? I know it will be bobber fishing but usually use Garrison sports. Was wondering if anyone has had any luck with them them? Thanks Also bathroom on board for the wife?

I’d recommend McQuoids or any other place…

I’ve had customers stay at Eddys and I can’t say they had anything positive to say.

McQuoids dumped some serious cash recently into their launch boats and they now have in my opinion the nicest fleet on the lake. We had a family gathering and a bachelor party there. We went out on one of their launches and had great fishing when the word around the lake was a “slow bite”. I’d highly recommend them!

These boats can move! IMO, slow old launch boats fish where it’s convenient not where the hot bite is…

You won’t get many responses. It is Native owned. I have a coworker who has gone there a few times and been happy.

My advice is to ignore the inevitable haters that will come onto this thread and inject political opinions. We deal with political crap every day of the rest of the week on the news. All launches do their best to put the customers on the fish. If the walleyes aren’t hitting, they will sometimes move to the humps for the smallies. Just enjoy the weekend and the fish. That’s what it’s all about.

x2. I had a friend that stayed at Eddy’s and had to go to 3 different rooms before they found a clean one to stay in, each meal was wrong or severely delayed, and the day they were going on a launch they cancelled it bc there weren’t enough people.

I’ve heard several first hand reports of consistently bad luck with Eddy’s launches. I’d go anywhere else.

Nothing political or “hating” about recommending another place where one has a had a positive experience. Like Joe says…McQuoid’s boats and whole operation are top notch. Went out with one of my grandsons last year and was very impressed. Would definitely go back again with them.

New I would receive some political back lash was just asking the questions usually use Garrison sports. Has had some good luck with them expect some mouthy deck hands have turned us off. Enjoyed the times we went out with the older captain he was top notch. Thanks for the suggestions.

In this day and age it seems people aren’t allowed to have any negative opinions without everyone automatically assuming there’s a political/racist/ideological agenda behind it. If Eddy’s had different owners, would our reviews have more merit? I’ve never stayed there, but one of my closest fishing buddies said the last time they were there, garbage was laid out in the hallways, and “kids” (his words) were smoking and drinking beer in the pool area. Having said that, I’d love to hear a review from you after you stay there, Josh.

Negative opinions are welcome and different from blanket political ones. I have nothing against honest reviews. I just get tired of the endless political debates about Mille Lacs. That’s all.

I’ve been on Twin Pines once with a family reunion and though the walleyes were slow, we hit into the smallies big time.

Just with the free room and reduced rate was thinking about giving it a try. Will probably go back to Garrison Sports or Maybe twin pines. Usually captain my own ship but me and the wife do this once a year at the end of the school year so we both can relax have a couple beverage and fish without worrying about anything. Thanks everyone for the input.

My son and I went out of twin pines last year opener evening. I think it was the 7-11pm trip. Fishing was very good. I, myself caught 20+ walleyes. Every one else did well too. The deckhands earned their tips that night netting, unhooking, baiting, untangling etc. I felt bad for them so I pretty much took care of my son and myself, and still tipped them. It was a fun night. I’d highly recommend them again.

All the anti-Native stuff aside, I stayed at Eddy’s for a night so I could take part in some of the 2017 Bassmaster Angler of the Year Championship festivities.

Mingling with the anglers was great. Mike Iaconelli went above and beyond answering my questions and teaching me about smallie fishing on big water. He did that in the dark while skeeters tore us apart the night before day 1 while he was rigging his rods up. Spent about 20 minutes doing so.

Eddy’s accommodations were awful. The restaurant sucked. The servers were terrible. The rooms were tiny, overpriced, and the bed was like lying on a plywood sheet.

To make matters worse, I was double-charged for my room, even though I made reservations for one day only and told the check-in clerks I was checking out when I hit the water at 7am to observe the anglers.

I had to get VISA involved to dispute the payment. I made about 6 calls to the Eddy’s staff and they gave me the run-around in a major way. They did so for about 10 days before I called VISA. That got their attention and I was refunded in a day. Otherwise, they couldn’t care less.

Eddy’s is not a nice place to stay, and it’s not a trustworthy business, regardless of the ethnicity of its staff and owners.

Great to see there are other reasons for me to stay away in addition to the owners.

It’s owned by the tribe? And it’s now a messy place? No way, big surprise………

I sure miss the “old Eddy’s” seemed like a “fisherman’s” kind of place, very nice accommodations, nothing elaborate, reasonably priced, waterfront café was awesome. Now it seems so upscale, & modern. Seemed like the launch captains did what they could to see that everyone had a positive experience. Haven’t tried anywhere else, maybe someday.
