I just got my new echoMap chirp 93sv and I am under the understanding that it is preferable to transom mount the transducer on the starboard side.
I have an Alumacraft 170 competitor 60hp tiller. The pick up for my live well is on the starboard side a couple inches away from the drain plug, also the starting battery is on that side of the boat along with my trolling motor. I back troll a lot so it is easier to use my trolling motor on that side of the boat.
I assume mounting the transducer on there port side should be ok. Any thoughts ?

I don’t have the same unit as yours but should not make any difference. Make sure you use a transducer mounting board and then mount the transducer with the cleanest water coming across the face of the transducer. Do not mount it inline with a strake or rivets if possible. Bubbles or turbulent water are you enemies.

Thanks Mocha. I was thinking the same thing as you.
I have what should be the perfect spot, where my transducer is now that I am going to replace.
