Ok not my proudest daddy moment but this morning, while putting my boys shoes on, I happened to reach in my coat pocket and pulled out a B fish n tackle plastic ring worm. I gave it to my 2 year old for him to play with while finishing putting his shoes on. I put him in the car and thought maybe I should take it away but he seemed to be having fun whipping it around. I drive to daycare and when I took him out I noticed the bait was gone. Searching around I found most of the pieces around the backseat so if he had eaten any of it he certainly didnt eat much but I’m just a little worried that he ate some of it. Would this type of plastic have a bad effect on his stomach or would it pass right through. I doubt it would digest. I was unable to find anything online so I thought I would ask the wise folks of IDO.

I would contact the company directly with a phone call to customer service and tell them the situation. They will able to tell you if anything is harmful within the formula. Ask for msds (materials safety data sheet) information regarding human consumption.
I would also like to think that there would be a “harmful/ fatal if swallowed” warning on the package if anything was harmful. For what it’s worth, I’ve seen kids eat way worse.

When I was a kid I swallowed a .22 shell and I’m *mostly* ok.
October 3, 2018 at 9:09 am #1801075I wouldn’t even worry about it. I’m sure it’ll pass right through.
Tom SawvellInactivePosts: 9559October 3, 2018 at 9:23 am #1801078I know that most of the plastics available today to make plastic baits at home are phthalate-free. Not certain on those coming from abroad. I think a kids gut works so fast that whatever he may have ingested won’t be around long enough to cause harm.
October 3, 2018 at 9:30 am #1801082If he swallows a quarter then craps out 2 dimes and a nickel,,,I would worry.
TumaInactiveFarmington, MNPosts: 1403October 3, 2018 at 9:36 am #1801084I hope you didn’t just tell him the joke about the kid who caught all the fish because he kept his worms warm in his mouth. I would think he would be fine but a call doesn’t hurt. Fish eat the plastic too. But they also swim in their own pee. I am sure your son just wanted to make his own stink bait version of the plastic ring worm.

Seriously though I’ve seen kids eat worse should be fine.October 3, 2018 at 9:38 am #1801086Since there wasn’t a hook attached, I wouldn’t worry. Just let the FW or daycare know to not be alarmed when his poo comes out glittery! I thought my pup got a hold of one of my daughters shoes and ripped a chunk off and ate it once…nope. SHE ate it. Safe to say I was shocked when I found it on the backend…

That’s the first thing I thought of

Much better to be safe than sorry. I agree, probably harmless, but absolutely no reason not to confirm this.Custom Jigs, Inc.

FW: (walks in dark bathroom to find FH and FS hunched over toilet with headlamp shining in) “Should I be concerned?”
FH: “You got to see this, hold on 30 seconds”
FS: (turns off light)
After eyes adjust an ominous glow finds its way outwards from within the bowl.
FH and FS look at each other, epic fist bump.
Dog runs in, eats crap.
(Next night)
FW looks out the window while doing dishes after the evening meal, sees headlamps dancing about in the yard. She knows its gonna be awhile until they find the pile she already threw away. Grabs a wine bottle, 50 shades of grey and locks herself in BR.
blackbayPosts: 699October 3, 2018 at 12:37 pm #1801139Should be fine… When I went to the beach as a toddler, I always ate large amounts of sand. It may have clogged up in certain areas of my brain, but that’s not important.
October 3, 2018 at 12:39 pm #1801140You have to admit, some of those plastics smell amazing. I don’t blame your son at all for eating one!
October 3, 2018 at 1:07 pm #1801145lol. responses are funny. B Fish N Tackle was very good about it. called and they sent me the safety data sheet.
