It was a great weekend to get out on the ice and chase some flags!!!! This has got to be one of the best ways to introduce kids to fishing. In central MN East and West Rush Lake as a protected slot of 24” to 36” for northerns. This provides a fisherman with endless flags and smiles from ear to ear when children and adults pull up a 30” fish! Take a peek at a map and find an area that has 4-7 foot depth with a good drop off and you will find pike. We most likely had 40 flags for 5-7 people each day. We varied from using PK lures to plain quick strike treble hooks and sucker minnows. I put a real test to the Buzzreel boxes this weekend and they are still performing great for me. All the fish we caught were between 24” and 35” and of course all released. Which is also a great lesson for the kids and adults alike. Enjoy the pics and take a kid fishing!!!
