Fished sun down to 1 am on Thursday and Saturday night. We were able to avoid the crowds at the ramps (main goal), all while still pulling in a few fish. Fishing was very dependent on personal standards. We caught about a fish an hour or two each night, every walleye caught was >15, no pigs though. Fished all the community holes up river of Everts. Depth didnt seem to matter as we spent the majority of our time in 10-14 feet, caught a few, then also caught a few more in 25+. Never used any live bait, just 1/8 to 1/4 oz jigs and plastics. Moxis with chart tails might have had a bit more success than other plastics we used, but nothing to over the top. Trolled upstream the majority of the first night, only drifted the second night and it didnt seem to matter on the number of fish we caught. Wish we made a bit more of an effort to pitching jigs to shore, but its tough without a reliable trolling motor. Really my main point here is that you dont need much to go down and have a good time all while getting a few fish in the boat. Last night was a last second trip, as I called a friend in minneapolis and a friend in Winona to meet me at Everts, and I was leaving from the Rochester area. Easy hour drive for each of us. So many people are so close to a good bite but must be scared away by the cooler temps? Hmm bummer for them I guess Goodluck to everyone out there!!
