I have been wanting an e-bike for the past few years. Thought about doing a conversion to my mtn bike but chickened out and then sold the mtn bike.

Well I have had my eye on this one for the past 2 years. Decided to click on a bookmark on my work computer last week for the bike. Lo and behold it was on sale. So out comes the ol CC and 3 hours later I got a text from Erik’s in St Cloud saying my bike was ready.

Went and picked it up on Sunday. Had to take it for a quick spin in the parking lot at the shop. With throttle only I was able to get it up to 20 mph.

This is going to help a lot on those 1.5 mile walks in NE or the 2 to 3 mile walks in SD.

That thing is sweet. When I rode one it had way more torque then I expected. Pretty sweet ride you got there. Now what do you do with it when it’s in the tree ? How far from your tree do you leave it.

I am not sure how far to hide it from the tree.
The one stand I have in mind it would be easy. There is a little ditch that drops into a creek bed from an ag field. I can stash it in that ditch. That would put the bike about 100 yards from the stand.

I was actually thinking about asking my dad to fab up a hitch to hook my deer cart to the rack over the back tire. If I can pull that off there would be no dragging required.

They make trailers for them as well.

I met a guy on a big piece of public land. He towed his deer cart with his E-bike and had his kayak on the deer cart. Bike in to the end of the trail and paddle in deeper up the creek. Talk about getting away from the pressure.

Is an e-bike considered a motorized vehicle?

Some public hunting areas prohibit the use of “motorized vehicles.”

Also, during the firearms deer season, would the use of an e-bike only be allowed before/after legal shooting time and at midday like the regs state?

I’m just wondering what is classified as a motor vehicle here.

Not sure these answers, but in my opinion they should 100% be considered motorized vehicles – they are quite literally a motorized vehicle

There’s 3 different classes of E-bikes and it all depends on motor size – I think most are generally regulated as a real bike. As far as where they’re allowed I’m sure it’s one big gray area, real bikes aren’t even allowed on all public lands. WMAs, WPAs, State/National Forests, NWRs, all have different regs on bikes. Even down the individual unit sometimes.

Real bikes are where it’s at though

Where i met that guy, motorized vehicles are prohibited. I mentioned that to him but he didn’t seem concerned. I chose to watch my own bobber and let him do what he wants. That’s between him and the CO.

I mean they are certainly quiet enough compared to something like an ATV or dirt bike with a gas motor.

Interesing item to consider here though

Im guessing they dont count. At least by me. Kids ride them without helmets. Nobody stops at stop signs with them. People ride right down the middle of the lane like they are a vehicle but yet dont need a license on it or to operate it. I think its a bunch of bullshit.

Nice, did you do a bunch of research Michael? Seems to be a lot of options and variances especially on price, and I’d like to know how you picked that one. Part of me thinks I should just go TSwoboda’s route, and the other part thinks I’d use an E Bike a lot more. Planning on buying once crying once either way.

I mountain bike with my kids in the summer so already have the bike and thought I’d give it a shot. No way I’m dragging a deer with a pedal bike but I highly doubt anyone is doing that with ane-bike either. At least not the ones that classify as regular bikes and not without a trailer and I could do that with the pedal bike too. Was actually very tempted to keep one of our kids trailers for hauling deer. The simplicity of a pedal bike is refreshing, just lift it out of the truck and go. Also a lot easier carrying 30 pounds over deadfall and creek crossings than 75+ pounds

I wouldn’t say I did much for research as far as the brand I bought goes.
I did do a lot of research on MTB conversion though.
This bike has a hub motor. I was wanting a crank motor but it is what it is.
I looked at all the expensive bikes and discovered this one on a google search.
Every E bike thread that has popped up on here, Bowsite, Archery Talk and Rokslide I read. Never once did I see a negative comment about this bike. That was enough for me to give the bike a chance. That was probably my biggest research that was done.

The bike has disk brakes which is a big plus. I have heard of guys frowning on bikes with rear Derailleur which this bike has, they worry about the Derailleur in brush.
    It does have 8 gears.

Can confirm. Rear derailleur, cassette, and chainring are all brush and grass magnets. Hasn’t affected anything, just need to clean it out when you’re done
