Since this is in place, why would there be a need for the bill that failed? People with a CC permit need to be pretty darned discerning about situations they may put themselves in so they aren’t faced with a case where they may need to use the gun.
I don’t have the permit so I don’t have to fret over this when I’m out and about.

I think the bill focused on duty to retreat “outside the home.”
Maybe I’m wrong though. It is confusing.
March 7, 2025 at 10:49 am #2322318Im against any further restrictions for self defense. We have plenty of laws around its actions. We don’t need more. I think this one is aimed squarely at defending the perps. It wreaks of liberal mindset.

This was a bill to remove the duty to retreat.

Sad when they don’t feel safe in their own homes and communities. Especially at the u of m.
If you were a by standard it would be hard not to help her.

That’s actually a great video to demonstrate when you could or couldn’t retreat.
She clearly couldn’t while being attacked in the beginning.
She clearly could while chasing after them and pounding on their car.

[/quote]Correct. But it seems our laws would value the criminals life before her belongings. Sadly that’s how it goes. I would hate to be put in the spot of defending 1s self, because how we value criminals in this state. Even if those kids are caught they would get a slap on the wrist and be back to violently attacking innocent people a few days later.
