Ok, I’m dumb. What was the mistake, the fish touches the floor?

Lol, i’m not quite that stupid. I inadvertently threw it back the first time. Thankfully, i was able to catch it again later and take it to weigh in. The odds a big fish like that bites again are low, guessing it was on a deep bed and pretty territorial around the spawn. I actually caught that fish 3 times, once prior in our practice just a couple days before the tourney.

Not really a “dumb move” per say but did once fight with an anchor caught in a stump with weigh in time minutes away. Finally i cut the rope and made it to weigh in. Took first place bluegill; so my winnings went towards a new anchor.

I was once fishing a pro / Am bass tourney ( as the Am ) it was a really tough bite and earlier in the day we had caught a fish that was right at the minimum size. After we filled our limit late in the day. We caught another fish that was just slightly over the minimum. Just time to heading to weigh in it was time to cull 1 fish before heading to the weigh in. The pro had me locate the 2 smallest fish. I did and told him that 1 was about a 1/8 – 1/16” short and the other was about the same over. He said to leave them both out for him to check. He checked both of them and found the same thing. He then preceded to toss the incorrect one. After I told him I think he tossed the incorrect one he said oh poop. Sure enough he checked the other fish and it was the one just under. The penalty for bringing in a short fish was big so we ended up releasing the short one. It was a 2 day tourney. After day 1 we were in 6th place. we drew for new partners for day 2. When day 2 was over I finished in 6th place ( one out of the money ) My day one partner finished in 7th ( 2 out of the money ) This was a rather large fall tourney on Tonka with a large field and a sizable entry. That error cost both of use a nice check. The day one pro felt like poop for the error. I was not really all that upset. Years later I ran into the pro at another event. I went up and said hi – do you remember me. He said yes – your the guy I cost a nice check because I was a bone head – we both laughed.
