The false hope from out of towners since we had the good ice a few years back is entertaining.
False hope? Oh, ok. The denial from the locals is equally as entertaining and won’t keep the masses away when it freezes.
When you live this far away you actually pay more attention to how the lake behaves to the weather than most of the locals. Personally, I check conditions on average 3 times a day, EVERY DAY as long as I have an internet connection. Everything from air temp, water temp, wave height, wind direction, surface currents, web cams, satellite images, mud lines, past conditions, fishing reports, and much more. Every day.
Btw. I’ve ice fished on Superior in Duluth 3 of the past 7 seasons. If it happens this year it’ll be 4 out of 8. So much for global warming Mr Gore.
