I am headed from south of the cities to Bentleyville this weekend, looking to find some ice while I am up in the area. Where would be some safe spots to hit the ice? Any suggestions on conditions and approaches would be appreciated!!
We had a solid 5-6 inches of ice about 2 weeks ago. Then the warm weather hit and I haven’t been back out to check conditions. With the cold weather forecasted for this week, I’d say its a safe bet most of the local lakes will be walkable again by this weekend. Check with Tim at Hi-Banks resort on Fish Lake for current ice conditions. They’ve been getting into crappies out from Hi-Banks in pontoon bay as well as in the narrows prior to the warm up.
