    Hi All,

So, I am getting married this weekend! We are trying to plan a quick ‘mini-moon’ to Duluth for Labor Day weekend and would like to do a half day fishing trip while there. Can anyone give me some recommendations? We just want to have a good time and catch some fish!

Also, does anyone have any must see sites while we are there? Favorite restaurants? Etc…

    Thanks in advance,

    Austin

Sorry, I didn’t realize that my post from last night actually took! Admins can delete this if they like as it is a duplicate.

    Thanks

Try the Dublin Inn right downtown on Superior Street. Just don’t plan to try a shot of each of the bottles of scotch.

Most of the good fishing lakes are a little ways away from duluth like 20 min or so. However the St. Louis River is good for walleyes, muskies and catfish. Use crawler harnesses or rapalas to get eyes on the edges of the river channels in the middle to the mouth of the river. For cats go up to the Fon Du LaC area look for current seams just off the river channel in 10-18FOW. I don’t know how big of a boat you have but they are catching fish in Lake superior as well. They are getting fish in the top 20-45FOW over deeper water. Pull F-9 rapalas or spoons getting into that range. You will catch Cohos Lakers and the odd King. If you can fish a lake 20 min away either go to chub in Carlton, you will catch fish hear, or Fish lake Flowage. Chub has a lot of bass and pike you will catch crappies but small and some okay gills. Fish lake would be better for keeping fish they have bass, pike, eyes, crappies, and gills. Both lakes shouldn’t be hard to find fish in.

Personally like the Grand superior lodge. But have to stay in a cabin.

Try marine general for fishing updates.

Thanks for the tips guys. We are just looking to hop in with a guide for a half day and we would prefer to fish on Superior and target some fish we can’t catch in South Dakota.

Anyone have any guide service suggestions?

As 396ranger mentions, contact Marine General in Duluth for information about the fishing and for guides. Here’s the number so you can call ahead of time to arrange things a little. 1-218-724-8833
