I am planning on heading up to Duluth this weekend and looking for good places to start. I have n no experience up there at all.

Open to fish for pretty much anything, I have gear for perch, walleye, burb and sturgeon.
Putting in a call to Marine General just wondering if anyone had any other info, thanks!

Hello, I am a Duluth resident who began fishing the area this winter.

As for lakes, there is a bit of a limited selection. There are various reservoirs just north of the city that I’m sure you could find panfish on.

As for walleye & perch – I highly suggest trying the Duluth harbor area near Park Point / The airport. There are extensive flats running from 8”- 12” all up & down the harbor. I’ve only been out there a couple times but I see houses scattered out there all the time – big fish in there too. To my knowledge the shipping season has concluded until late March, so you won’t have to worry about ships going through the SW end

Thanks! I will give that a shot! Any ideas on burbot or sturgeon in the harbor area? I will be staying very close to there.

Ended up trying just south of Boyscout landing and the point near the airport a few nights. Got skunked completely. Also went out on the big lake middle afternoon on Saturday but the ice was really moving and shaking that day so I didnt stay long.

Tough, I haven’t ever had much luck in the harbor but I know there fish there. Ended up getting my first ever lake trout this past weekend on Superior – absolutely electric. Ice is too sketchy now, a massive shift Sunday morning sent myself & others off at 9:00am. I think that was my last time out there sadly

Congrats! sounds awesome! I was out for a bit Saturday afternoon and there was a massive ice shift that sent people running. That was enough for me.

I might try and get further north yet this year to get on some smaller lake trout. Never caught one through the ice so hoping to accomplish that
