I ate some fresh Teal for the first time last night. My buddy gave us 3 breasted birds. I did it super simple on high heat with only a little oil and salt/pepper so we could really know what they tasted like. Tender as a young Grouse.
We both thought they were delicious at first but at the end kinda rich and different. I could see doing them differently with seasoning or sauce but man were those things tender. Is Mallard comparable to Teal or better?

I think teal are the best, then mallard, then wood ducks.

Had a great hunt on Sunday. Easy limit in less than an hour. Find areas that haven’t been hunted and you’ll find the birds. These came from hard to access public land that nobody was willing to work for.

Just got back from a 2 week trip in Saskatchewan.

Lots of miles scouting and knocking on doors to get permission, but paid off to have some good hunts.

Got out this morning. Busted a small puddle with 20 ducks on it as I was setting up, but didn’t have anything fly close the rest of the morning. Did not hear a lot of shooting and didn’t see much in the air. Figured as much with the warm and calm weather. I left the puddle to pheasant hunt at 9am but hunted the same piece of public and didn’t see or hear much duck activity the rest of that morning.
