Measure out enough fresh, culled strawberries to fill about 2/3 of a quart jar. Add 1/2 cup of sugar in a bowl with the strawberries and stir well a couple times over an hour, then put the berries in the quart jar. Add about 2/3 cup of 100 proof vodka and then top the jar off with strawberry flavored vodka. I like the Schmirnoff product for the flavored stuff. Put the jar in the fridge for a couple weeks and just leave it alone.
After a couple weeks spoon out a half dozen of the berries into a Collins glass, add a bit [or more] of the vodka and then fill the glass with chilled sweet white wine or a chilled champagne and toss in an ice cube or two if needed. This goes good with lemonade and any of the citrus soft drinks too.
You can do peaches in the same fashion only using a peach flavored vodka. The peach is just flat out something else, but the strawberry is a super cooler too.
Heres mine, just getting ready to go in the fridge.
