Does anyone make a drop shot snell?
A swivel on both ends with a hook tied on?

VMC has a drop shot hook. Basically a swivel with a hook through it.

    Edit: I think it’s called a spinshot.

Yup. I have no idea how to tie it myself, I just always use these. I’ve heard some complaints that they are weak and prone to breaking but mine have never had a issue.

When I started with the drop shot, I used the spinshot hooks because they seemed handy. Once I learned how to tie the knot below, I haven’t used one since. Very quick and easy. I’ve broken a couple of the spinshots when trying to remove the hook from a fish. But, to answer the original question, I have not seen a pre-tie snell like you’re talking.

No need. Tie a Palomar knot with a long tag end, snug it up, then pass the tag end back through the eye. Just make sure the hook point is up when it’s hanging with the weight.

I know, but when you’re an old Codger and the eyes ain’t as good as they used to be I kinda like pre-tied rigs, but I’m pretty sure I’ll need to figure how to tie the proper configuration . bawling

DO NOT use the VMC spinshots. I have had the pin that the hook swivels on snap in half causing the hook to slide off and lose the fish and essentially the rig. Probably 5 times before I stopped using them. It seemed to happen after the second or third fish.

It’s the only product I’ve been disappointed in from VMC.

How in the heck, never broke one. plenty of small mouth. I just use the knot now with a neko hook, works great.

Yes – Don’t forget to pass the line back through the eye from the hook point side . Another helpful tip is to pull / rotate the knot so it is in the center of the hook eye. This will help make your hook stand straight out.

Yep from different packs and different seasons. They just aren’t built strong enough.
