I am looking to purchase a drift sock to slow my speed while back trolling with the main motor. I have a 16.5′ Alumacraft Navigator with a 60 HP/FS. On a calm day, I can back troll down to just under 2 MPH. Id like to be able to cut that in half or close to it. Sizes vary greatly and just wondering if you all have any insight to what might work. Also, any brands I should stay away from or strongly consider? Thanks in advance for any help.

I think I am using a 48″ for this purpose… but I can’t remember what I was able to troll down to with my 75hp Honda…

Thanks for the insight Mark. After a little more research, I think I will try something in the 36-42″ range. If that doesn’t work how I want, I guess I’ll have to buy another!

you can always buy a bigger one then you need first, and if it slows you too much just add some throttle and you will have a lot more control
