Drawer Slide Help

I’ve got a few drawer slides in my kitchen that could use replacement, but I am having problems finding what I need. I’ve attached photos of the type of slide they are. I can’t find these at the normal big-box stores, and I’ve done some internet poking, but without physically handling them, it’s tough to know if it is what I need.

For ease, I’d like to replace with the same/similar slides. I’d love to put full-extension ball bearing slides on, but I don’t have the side clearance for side-mount slides I have about a 1/4″ clearance on each side), and that’s all I’ve been able to locate in person.

Does anyone know what these are and where I can find some? I worked in a custom cabinet shop in college, but I never saw these.

Forest Products Supply will also have that hard to find cabinet hardware.

Up until the mid 80’s that was the industry standard drawer slide. It sounds like forest product supply is the first place to try. The next would be a hardware supply wholesaler. It has been over 20 years since I was in the business so I am not up to date on who and where they are.

Interesting. I spent my time in the cabinet shop in the early 2000’s, and it’s not a slide I’d seen before. Our home was built in 1994. Most of them still work well, but there are a few that are past their prime.

We have those too. I’ll have to see what you find and were

Working for my father in his custom cabinet shop from the mid to late 70’s while in high school until about 1990, I installed about 25 sets a week. We made the switch to Grass brand drawer slides and door hinges about 86. If the wheel on the drawer slide is still in good shape, most of the time it can be renailed and it will work. The newer style slides won’t work on a older drawer because the measurements are different. The drawer is built to the opening size depending on the style drawer slide used. Back in the day, the style slide you have was not coated, they started doing that to compete with the newer style that are coated white. I am not saying that your cabinets are cheap, but alot of shops used them as a price point. The newer style was/is about 25% higher in cost. The old style you have lasted about 20 to 25 years, depending on how much weight was loaded in the drawer and how often it was used. Another option would be to take one off of a drawer that isn’t used too often and reinstall on the drawer that is used all the time. That would get you by until you find the replacements.

After a little thinking, Houck go-ez is the brand and style we used. Do a search and you will find them

Oiling the drawer rollers now and then extends their life – especially the drawer under a stove that contains heavy frying pans.

Just remember to tell your wife that you oiled them or the drawers will come FLYING out! jester

I ordered some of the Rockler replacements that Poomunk mentioned (crazy-fast shipping, BTW). They’re exactly what I needed. Thanks for the help, fellas.

I fixed one of the culprits yesterday. When I took out the old tracks, both wheels fell off! The hole in the middle of the wheel was completely worn and enlarged, so I guess that was the issue. )
