Boy, those sure bring back memories! They were discontinued product that I found and I believe they are long gone. I would however suggest emailing hutch as if anyone would know of availability it would be him.

Its a Gator Tail. I think the baits are defunct commercially, however there is an injection mold made to shoot a worm with a very similar tail. I can’t find an overall length for the worm but it appears somewhat longer in the pics I see for the finished bait….can always nip the body back.

I don’t know if this will be a picture or a link, but here is the mold….

Gator Tail! That’s it. I’ve been trying to think of the name. I bought and used these worms for Texas-rigged basin’ years ago and they were my favorite. I think I still have a bunch in purple or June Bug.

Tom it’s hard to see but the 3rd pic down looks like it’s 5 to 5.5″. I do like that, but wish it was a bit shorter.

I dug thru several mold maker’s offerings and this is the only one I found that has the deeply serrated and stocky tail. I agree that its long but it can be bit off and would work fine, but I just like a finished bait like most do. There are a lot of the wide tailed grub baits out there to choose from, just not with a serrated edge. I don’t know if the serrated edge affects the action at all or not, but I am going to say nada. It might have an effect on the tails profile when its spinning. Who knows.

Back in the 70’s and 80’s these “Gator Tailed” baits were all over the place but like everything they got displaced by the new and improved. Makes a guy wonder if new and improved really means that things are better, eh?
