I’m going to take a wild guess it’s a mix of culture war BS and conspiracy theories that you could get the gist of by scrolling blue checkmarks on Twitter for 30 seconds. Come on, be honest, how close am I?

Edit: oh this is just a short clip of the conspiracy theory part :lol

Edit2: yup, clip of the other part https://youtu.be/3ndM79LwkAQ?si=zqw9yp8CcX9ZgI2t

    “conspiracy”

What additional evidence would you need to believe that foreign interests, mainly China, are purchasing large swaths of US farmland?

SR-NYSE-2023-09 is the proposed rule, and here’s a link where you can go leave public comment. Not that public comments will matter, it’s good to make it known how much we disapprove of the federal government. Everything they touch dies or gets sold to China.

    https://www.sec.gov/comments/sr-nyse-2023-09/notice-filing-proposed-rule-change-amend-nyse-listed-company-manual-adopt#no-back

You can continue with head in sand calling these things conspiracies, these are very real, very present dangers to our way of life as Americans. This must be the best part for those in control, they just do it out in the open and nobody cares because it’s not on their favorite MSM 5:00 channel.

Everybody knows foreign interests buy land in the US and it’s reported by the USDA, that’s not the conspiracy. It being mainly China isn’t accurate either according to the latest; Canada, Netherlands, and Italy are the top three by acreage and have far more than China.

It’s a really good episode, I just listened to it. There’s a reason joe blows away all legacy media in ratings. He ain’t perfect by any stretch, but worth a listen for sure.

Americans and American soil as a whole are a perfect “target” for land grab and foreign investment opportunities. I’m not going to pretend to know the ins and outs of Chinese or foreign land purchases and their location with what that may mean, but at surface level land is a great investment.

Farmland has beat the stock market in the last 50 years by anywhere from 3-5% annually on value change or return on investment. Something that is visible, finite, and has historically averaged a 10-12% return is a no brainer. The issue is that in the United States, we’ve become the poster child for immediacy, credit, spending to meet insatiable wants, and so on which doesn’t lend itself to tying up capital in land – rather selling it off. We’re seeing more parcels of farm land move or switch hands from families than ever before.

The value of “good dirt” has never been higher and more of it isn’t being made. In a globalized world without financial borders, prices have room to run that much more with infinite demand. It’s pretty obvious why corporations, billionaires, and so on are buying up land…it’s to get wealthier. The other stuff about military bases and whatnot I can’t really speak to. Regardless people should be concerned about more land being tied up in the hands of fewer elite world powers. People should also open their eyes and wallets to the financial opportunities owning land can create even if it’s not going to generate likes, shares, and that crap. The extremely wealthy people in this world didn’t get there by making poor investments…

It’s not just foreigners. Pottowanamie Indian tribe from Kansas is claiming hundreds of acres in Illinois, including Shabbona Lake State Park, was stolen. They really don’t want the land. They want to build a casino about ten miles north but don’t want to pay for it. Democrat state legislators seem inclined to give them the money.

Think what you want to about these 2 guys, But the issue is valid. No one really knows how much land in the US is currently owned by foreign countries. Lots of land being purchased by various shell companies. Foreign companies purchasing US land is nothing New. Its been happening for awhile now.

Buying a skyrise in a big city is quite different than buying land surrounding nuclear missiles and military bases.

Should I worry, contact my representative, build a bomb shelter, what?

Seriously, as I tell my guy’s don’t come to me with a problem come to me with a solution. I’m all ears. No disrespect to any here. What do I do?

    A…..men…..to…. that…

That’s so much of what our society has become, constant outrage. It’s what the vast majority of non-outdoor threads are about here. And for politicians and others with power, it works out great for them because they just play to it and don’t have to do anything about it, just keep up the fear and outrage.

A couple years ago some guys at work were going off about the defund the police effort by some Minneapolis city council members and as I walked by I was met with the old “did you hear about that?” I replied “I guess I fail to be outraged at the moment when that doesn’t affect me one bit. ” They seemed a little shocked that someone could just move on with their day.

That is sorta the problem though. If it doesnt affect you then you dont care because you dont live in Mpls most likely, but that movement could certainly affect you at some point say you were at a Vikings or Twins game and needed them for something.
Also, completely unrelated topic but are you outrage by the Feeding our Future scandal? I mean, you probably wouldnt have benefitted from their services so by your logic you dont have an opinion right? Well the fact remains it does affect you because it was YOUR tax dollars that funded it.

I get what you’re saying and agree. I guess what I was more saying was a continuation of what EPG was saying, wondering what being outraged on an outdoor forum does for a guy. You’re absolutely right that public safety in the cities is a concern for me, as is fraud and abuse of tax dollars. I just don’t walk around angry and outraged about those things all the time, and I don’t believe all the complaining on outdoor forums does anything about it. Yes, of course I’m a hypocrite to an extent, because complaining about the Pohlads on here does nothing either but I do it, I guess I see sports as a different world and more trivial compared to other life matters.

Regarding the Feeding our Future scandal…any form of fraud or cheating to get the tax dollars we all contribute to is complete BS. What I wonder from a lot of people on this site is if they get upset about those principles, or if it’s more political party driven. Because the facts are most people on this site will be up in arms if it’s about a liberal cause or Democrats involved. People here seem to ignore Republicans that abused the PPP loan situation when they didn’t need them but come unglued when student loan debt is relieved (I, for the record, am against both). Most people on here will talk about welfare destroying America but ignore businesses with more money than they’ll ever spend finding ways to cheat the tax system (again, I am against both). And if you only read these forums, you’d think Pelosi was the only person to ever take advantage of insider trading opportunities….

Very good points and thanks for the clarification. I dont look at many of these fraudulent activities are a political issue rather a fraud issue. I could care less which party they may affiliate it, abuse of something is still abuse. The Dems were the ones behind the defund the police movement though so that is party affiliated.
Oh, and I do not walk around outraged and agree that complaining about it here does little to nothing, but the same goes for other avenues. The only thing we can do is vote and we have seen how that has been going.
