Double, Double Down

Since the weather seemed to settle down a bit, I decided to head out and try some calling a few nights ago while we still had some moon left. It was a little breezy out, but it didn’t seem to matter.

    1st set – nothing

2ns set – had one come flying in at the 4 min. mark at about 40 yds – dropped him, kept calling and had another come in and give his dead buddy the drive by, finally barked him to a stop at 150 yds and put him down

3rd set – started calling and had a pair coming in hot at the 2 min. mark. They were on the call in seconds and I watched the first one actually bite at the call… dropped that one and got on the second… missed the first running shot at about 100 yds, caught up to him and rolled him at about 130 yds.

Jeff, what is the allure of Yote hunting? I have wanted to try my hand at this but don’t really know where to start. What do you do with the critter once dispatched? I hear of fellas selling the pelts or something like that.

I also hear they are targeted because they eat too many upland birds or are a hassle to farmers. Any links, websites you can point a fellow to in order to learn more?

BTW, congrats! Looks like a real successful day!
