Here is a story about my dog Shelby that still brings a smile to my face. We were hunting the back bay off of a main lake. The one in the picture above with the wood duck. I had her sitting on a wood skid next to me to keep her out of the water. Me and a hunting buddy were not shooting the best on this morning. We had missed a couple of mallards earlier. Shelby was all keyed up and ready to retrieve. Then it happened we see a pair of wood ducks coming in from the left. Me and my hunting buddy both shoot and hit nothing. I look down at my pup and she looks up at me, she lets out a big sigh then stands and turns around and faces shore. She refuses to look at me. She obviously didn’t appreciate our shooting ability. About 10 minutes later when we started calling another pair of woodies. She finally turned back around to watch and I was able to redeem myself by downing the one in the picture. What a personality she had.

I can’t have dogs where I’m currently living so she has been living with my mom for the last 5 months or so. Guess you got to roll with what life gives you. We got to see her this weekend and the boys were super excited until it was time to say goodbye again.

June 4, 2015 at 6:06 am #1548473This is Belle, she’ll be 3 in early July.
We found a flock of turkeys on one of our morning walks while on a short vacation this spring. She pulled a shoulder muscle so we sat out the bird season last fall. Looks like it’s game on for this year- – -jerrAttachments:
July 10, 2015 at 3:53 pm #1554035Well Guys,
This is Lyla our 8 week old Yellow English Lab. Picked her up yesterday and could not wait to put her on here with all the other family members. I am not a bird hunter but we wanted a nice family dog. Been a long time coming (due to me not giving in to the whines of my wife and son) but we were due.
Looking forward to training her and trying to train my family to enjoy the cuteness but follow the training routine so we have a good dog.
Here is a couple of pics.
