November 2, 2024 at 4:34 pm #2297086A baby and her protector.
The old Sophie girl is 12 and doesn’t have to much more protecting duty left in her. But she never leaves the babies side. She’s been like that since my now 13 yr old was 1 when we got her.January 22, 2025 at 5:57 pm #2312381Chips just flew in from Miami. He missed his connector form DFW last Friday (he musta stopped and had a Corona or 2 and didn’t make it to his gate in time) and had to fly back to Miami.
But he made it today and is in fine health. He is now hanging out with Guacamole.I’ll say one thing – I was worried about transporting an animal on an airlines but they did a great job of taking care of him and I wouldn’t hesitate on sending an animal that way. BTW – it was AA.
January 22, 2025 at 6:07 pm #2312387Cute looking little killer EP. Does he like his nails trimmed?
OMG – Them dogs love their nails trimmed.
January 23, 2025 at 8:37 am #2312450In the grand scheme of things, we are quite lucky. Lily, my dad’s golden apparently suffered a coyote attack. Let her out and she wonders the wood edges behind the house to crap. Didn’t know at first anything was wrong. Next day noticed all the bloody matted hair. Looks like a hot spot by clearly puncture wounds from a bite on her neck. Infection set in super fast. Antibiotics for a couple days now, but super lethargic and still not eating. Poor ole girl

Hope she heals fast.
January 23, 2025 at 8:50 am #2312457What kind of dog Randy? Looks like a golden?
Seems like a sizable dog for a yote to try and pick on.
January 23, 2025 at 10:53 am #2312496Getting closer to breeding time and the coyotes get more aggressive. She’s about 72# which really doesn’t matter. Yotes have a much bigger attitude than their size. I’ve seen them turn on Walker hounds and tear them up pretty bad. Trapped/shot a lot that had teeth embedded in their neck. When they want to defend a territory or act aggressive, size really doesn’t matter. Had a pair stand off on a trail Vs me walking back from bowhunting one night. 99% will run, but there is always that one or two
January 23, 2025 at 11:10 am #2312499Every time I let our dogs out at the cabin I am worried about coyote or wolf.
We always go out with a flashlight and provide over watch at night.January 23, 2025 at 12:31 pm #2312529Dang Randy, bummer. Hope the pooch heals up quick.
I haven’t worried to much at the cabin about my labs at night. There only out when we are out and never venture off.
BUT, when we had our little shelties, we’d occasionally hear owls nearby, they went in the cabin immediately
January 23, 2025 at 6:21 pm #2312598Hope she heals up fine Randy.
Just read where Madison, WI is starting to have yote problem. Getting braver and coming around in daytime and not scared of humans.
