I’m sure BoBo has had a pretty good life since then!

Unfortunately it is part of the deal that you likely will outlive your dog. It is an especially hard lesson for kids. My Springer will be 12 in April, likely has another year after that. He will be the third of my dogs that my 28 year old son will see pass on. I’ll be sad, my son will be heartbroken (again).
steelslinger71Posts: 167November 24, 2022 at 4:27 pm #2161493I heard once that the first day you bring your puppy home is the first day to eventual heartbreak. Been through it a couple of times and truer words have never been spoken. Enjoy them while you have them.
November 24, 2022 at 5:56 pm #2161511Try having Mastiff’s and Dane’s if they turn 10 they’re living an borrowed time.
It’s better to have loved and lost then never to have loved at all.

So very true.

Understanding that is what I think separates some pet owners. After we lost Lily, our Brit, I understood just how short a dogs life is. Since, I have shared so much more time with Ruger. It’s a catch 22. We are closer than ever imagined a person can be with their pet, but I know his life span will end sooner than later. This one will be harder than I think

December 17, 2022 at 8:53 pm #2167466We made Christmas cookies today and had them on the table with plans on decorating them after dinner. We should have known better, but Ripley had never stolen food when we’re gone, so…
Well, he ate at least 2 dozen of them!

Iowaboy1Posts: 3831December 17, 2022 at 9:00 pm #2167468Thats hilarious Ralph!! I had a dog once that ate a bunch of cookies, be aware sugar can work like a potent laxative in dogs!!!
Iowaboy1Posts: 3831December 17, 2022 at 9:16 pm #2167474Nothing worse than critter skitters!!
My Gracie ate a bunch of freshly applied chicken manure on a field right next to our house many years ago, I caught her red handed and screamed at her to drop it but she wolfed down a big chunk of it.
The next morning we tossed out the couch, a couple of pillows and Sparkles spent an hour cleaning the walls and carpet, ICK!!The dog that ate a bunch of cookies, it started with him coughing, then acting like he was going to heave.
I made the mistake of yelling OUTSIDE!! to him, he knew he was in trouble anyway and sorta panicked and closed his mouth, all of that pent up pressure came out the other end, you can imagine the rest of the story.Karry KylloPosts: 1281May 1, 2023 at 10:04 am #2200036Last week coming in to the access on Tonka, Cody scented these about 80 feet from shore.
He showed a lot of restraint!!
Earlier he almost jumped out of the boat after a loon.Attachments:
