Very scary moment with the pooches around here. Ruger, our lab and Lilly our Brit were playing in the living room during dinner time. They play a little rough, so its not uncommom to hear a yelp.
This time the yelp was like a muffled whine through a towel or pillow. Weird to try to describe, but it definitely wasn’t right.
Ruger got his lower jaw behind Lilly’s collar and she rolled over in the process of trying to get free. When she rolled or twisted around, the collar twisted over like a tourniquet. Lilly’s eyes began to roll back and Ruger started thrashing his head back and forth. Olivia grabbed a scissors and somehow got it partially behind the collar and started nipping at it and kfinally got it cut off of Lilly.
She staggered for a minute and laid down breathing really rough for awhile. She’s quite traumatized and doesn’t want to play rough with Ruger at all now. I’ve heard of this happening before and had contributed it to a collar being too loose. I never though they could get their jaws inside of each other’s collars. Well, I was VERY wrong. If you have dogs thay like to play, keep an eye open for that. No more collars on my dogs unless they go outside
