The death penalty needs to be 3 things to be an effective deterrant: swift, certain, and severe. As I see it, 2 of those are definitely out, and maybe the 3rd, too. I’ve always been a death penalty proponent, but it’s become a joke. With DNA testing to clear the wrongly accused, death penalty opponents, and the backed-up legal system, it won’t get any better anytime soon.

I believe that in the Middle east countries. They do it almost right away. I agree. It should be done right away. No appeals that take 10 years like this Alfonso guy! THe evidence is dead against him, Yet it’ll be years before he pay’s for his crime!

It amazes me that neither Minnesota or Wisconsin allows it. I’ve seen polls that range from 60 – 80% are in favor of capital punishment. But we still don’t allow it.

I guess that means abortion is fine too.

    Capital punishment should be swift.

    Martin,
    I guess I don’t understand your comment.

IMHO there is a big difference between capital punishment and abortion.

Sorry guys…This would be too political AND religious for me to get into the similarities behind the immoral and reprehensible practice of government sanctioned murder of any human being. I would violate the use conditions on this website.

Well…capital punishment goes all the way back into the biblical days. They didn’t mess around and wait 20yrs to put a murder down then and I don’t believe we should have to now.

Putting down a murder has nothing to do with pro choice. It is all about an eye for an eye!

Killing a guilty person – who made decisions to do a crime vs killing a fetus that has no say in it and has done nothing wrong………..Does not seem similar to me.

    Tim,
I couldn’t agree more. But agree this topic has potential to get out of control now that abortion was thrown into the mix.

Happy Friday everyone and good luck on the MN opener this weekend.

After having to put down my last “hunt’n buddy” after 18 yrs (YES I said 18 yrs) of being together, I’ve picked up my new Hunting buddy. RIP Dakota 3-24-2010; Springer/Cocker.

“Bristol” is a 3 month old AKC Tri-colored Brittany. I’ve always had springers, but my dad has always had Brittanys. I’ve always enjoyed hunting over his dogs, since they point and allow you a little time to prepare for the shot.
Nothing beats hunting with a dog!
