My Old Friend

  • #204142

Today marks the day that I have been dreading for the past few years…My 16 year old German Shorthair has finally taken a turn for the worse and it’s time to put him down.

I’ve had this dog since I was 10 years old, and he’s been a major part of my life. Being an only child, he was like a brother to me, which makes it especially hard.

He was an amazing dog with the family, and an absolute machine out in the field. He will never be forgotten, and impossible to replace. But he will be going to a better place though. No more pain and suffering, just fields of bird await him.

I’m gonna miss you Baron. Hopefully when we meet up on the other side you’re waiting for me with a bird on point.

Sad to hear this, but I am betting you wouldn’t trade any of your time you had with him. RIP Baron.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I had to put my yellow lab K.C. down last October – I still get worked up thinking about her. They will be hunting the best fields chasing them birds.

It sucks but like you said, sometimes it is just better for them. You will meet again and have Baron on point once again! Sorry to hear about your loss.

Man I feel for ya Justin I got choked up reading your post, you desscibed my dog to a tee. Her name is Abby and she is a 13 year old GSP, she is still in great shape for 13 years old and still loves to hunt. I dread the day that I will have to say good bye to her. They say that every dog owner gets one great dog in his life time if they are lucky. Abby has been that dog for me and it sounds like Baron was that dog for you as well.

    Rest In Peace Baron.
