I have an 8 month old yellow lab. she has a very bad problem with jumping on people to the point that my kids are scared to play with her. Knees to the chest do nothing. If she has been in her kennel for any length of time she is so crazy when she gets out, only I can deal with her. She also has a problem with mouthing people. By that I means she doesn’t bite but will put her mouth around things like an arm or leg. The mouthing is less if she always has a rawhide but there has to be a better solution. The jumping right now is the biggest problem. Also, how old do they have to be to get spayed? I have heard that it helps also.
    Any tips are welcome.

With my yellow lab, when she jumped up, I grabed her paws hard and she’d yelp – say “down”, she’d sit in front of me, I’d tap my chest, she’d do it again, so I’d pinch her paws and re-inforce the command of “down” – did this technique a few times. She didn’t do it again. This worked for me, my 2 cents.

Pup will get better with age but for now you need to step on her back toes when she jumps on you and say NO JUMP!! You won’t be able to get to her toes all the time so use your knee to back her off and say no jump

I would advise against stepping on the toes. Your training thus far has taught you how much pressure you need to apply when making a correction. When trying to step on their toes it is almost impossible to comtrol the pressure. Plus you could also cause injury.
I have a method that will stop the jumping in one or two sessions but I need a little more info about your pup.
    Shoot me a pm.
