Like duhhhhhhh LX-5 ,I just bought one .
After reading the stats on both and the knowlage I learned off this forum about it along with capbilities(sp) of the zoom feature and they are a IDO sponsor, which means excellent customer service even for us little guys ,I just had to have one .I have owned several fl-8’s always sold them ,but this LX-5 in now part of my family and going NOWHEREFebruary 3, 2008 at 1:35 am #650814LX-5…
Dual Beam Ducer, moveable zoom, Super fine line, patented IR, padded soft pack, great customer service, and they are made right here in the USA-
Fl-18 Ultra Pack Dual Beam- 499
LX-5- 479Both are great flashers- and will definitely up your odds on catching more fish. However having owned and used both many years- My vote is for the lx-5-

LX-5 or FL-18 which would you buy? And Why? Need help
Danno, One point I’d ask you to keep in mind is that Marcum is a site sponsor which means a lot to those of us who enjoy this website and all it has to offer. Now, that aside, the reviews on the LX-5 are outstanding. Do a “search” here and you will find several threads that detail that benefits of the LX-5.
February 3, 2008 at 3:48 am #650862The LX-5 is awesome. You won’t beleive how well it works until you use one. The adjustable zoom and the IR are what sold me.

bchunterPosts: 45February 4, 2008 at 1:51 am #651118You won’t be dissapointed. Both are great units. I have the lx-5 and if I had to buy another for one of my kids, it would be a Marcum.

Good call Danno! I’d love to be able to say I can help you get your hands on one but we’re out and won’t be able to get more until next fall. Some of the retailers still have a few left, but you better get out their and get shopping soon. Marcum has had a great season and the units are in high demand!

October 5, 2009 at 2:53 pm #204070The small ticks were unbelievable this weekend in N. Wis.
Two weeks ago when the temps were warm I had none. This weekend with temps in the 40’s my dog was discusting. Same exact areas. Just an FYI. For some reason the cooler temps must trigger something.PowerFredPosts: 395October 5, 2009 at 3:10 pm #61585When it gets cold the ticks start looking for a nice, warm blooded host like your dog, or perhaps YOU! They won’t go dormant until there is snow on the ground, so keep checking the dog and yourself.
JacobNohnerPosts: 217October 8, 2009 at 6:31 pm #62445I got out in the process of working my 10 YO and 14 week old on Monday night. Between the two during the first half of the Packer game (Thank you DVR!!!) we picked over 50 from both dogs and none of those had gotten to bury. These were all their coats yet. All deer/bear ticks barely the size of a pin head, just could see their shiny little shell in the flashlight. FW picked ’em off the dogs and I torched ’em!!! That was in just a one hour walk!!!
We have inside labs. As for frontline, we have tried it, but the ticks won’t bury then. Then you get to look for the ones that didn’t bury on yourself. Because we don’t use frontline anymore, we just make sure the Lyme’s shot is up-to-date for the dogs and check more than daily. As for me, I been treated twice and they ain’t keeping me out of the woods!!!
