Last year Sadie was about 8 months old when we started hunting roosters late in October. We didn’t chase any fowl last year.
This weekend was the start of our first full season together chasing ducks. She retrieved every bird that fell yesterday and today. Needless to say I am very proud of her. She never hesitated at retrieving any of the birds, but we did have a trying few moments. The one instance that stands out is when she was on a line to a downed duck when a pair flew in to the decoys and my buddy shot at them and missed. She saw the ducks high tailing it out of the pond and decides to swim after them. 
I called her back, but she was all of the way across the pond by this time. As I was paddeling the boat to the downed duck she remembered the dead bird and took a line to it and retrieved it back to the blind.

Had my pup out yesterday and opener, she is only 5 months but scored her first ducks yesterday, wish the were more birds around for practice
