I have a new puppy and I am a newbie to this training bit. I was wondering what your thoughts are. I would like to train her to hunt pheasants.

I was told that Evan Graham is a good one. What else do you recommend? Maybe like a beginner guide to E collars and a book for field hunting pheasants.

    She is pretty smart.

Here are three that I have viewed. All on dvd- Training for your retriever by Mike Mathiot. You can find this by looking up Stony-Wolf productions. 2.Gun dog by Richard A. Wolters. 3. training the upland retriever by George Hickox.
Of the three, I liked the George Hickox training. Look to start out with his find em and flush em volume 1.
Also check out the Ido training articles.
You are a ways away from e-collar training but Hickox also has a good video on collar training . Also do a search in this forum and you will find alot of good info.

Benny, Evan Graham’s Smart Work series are great training tools but do tend to run a little hi priced. If you go to duckhunter.net you can sometiomes find used ones on their classified forum a lot cheaper. Also Evan frequents the training foum there so you can get an idea what he is about and ask questions about his dvds
