I have this great 2 year old yellow lab that is a perfect (almost) dog. Except for her damn licking. She thinks she has to lick everyone. No problem with self licking, just people. Patience is running low but nothing seems to stop it. Thought as she got older but can’t see much improvement. Thanks (I hope)

Lip’s got the idea… I have seen bitter apple spray work You have to be diligent with it, when she licks, she gets the squirt…

This can be a tough one because it is a natural behavior. When dealing with this, I do not completely try to eliminate the problem but modify it to an acceptable level.
To start I would adjust the amount of contact your dog has with people. Teach her what is acceptable. Give her a certain amount of time to interact with people but let her know when enough is enough. When she starts licking, take her in another direction like playing with a toy for a short time. She must also learn to go into a relax mode lile sitting or laying in a designated place.
If you have used correction training, a tug on the collar and a firm no will also get the point across. I have also used the bitter apple spray for dogs that liked to chew on hands. It works on most dogs. as Lip said, I would spray it on your hand or arm. I do not spray it directly at the dog.

I can really agree with Don here from personal experience. My dog has her idiosyncrasy’s. Some of which I know the only way I could halt would be to break her spirit in some way. I would never do that so I live with her behavior and modify it as much as possible without changing her overall demeanor.

I feel this is no different then a dog that jumps on ya. All my dogs use to do that. Heck they would knock over little kids while licking them and scare them to death. A few smacks on the nose with a no command and it was corrected. If I try to have them lick me they just turn their head away. Problem solved
