It’ll be my first go-round with a pointing dog. I’ll be interesting. She is 6 pounds of pure dynamite and lots of fun.

Congrats on the pup. How do you potty train your pups in the winter? I was thinking about getting one, but I’d think you’d have trouble getting it to go outside.

Nice looking Brit, they grow like a weed and she’ll be ready to train outdoors this spring. When it comes to training them to go outside, just watch and when they have to go take them outside for a few minutes, then bring them back in. If they do go inside tell them no but don’t do it too much, thier still a pup and will make mistakes. If thier in the process of going just pick them up and take them outside.

Thanks guys. I am really looking forward to having a pointing dog, as I only upland hunt any more.

I actually like house training them in the winter, because they DO NOT like being outside in the cold, so the warm house is a perfect reward……

I have a routine…..she sleeps, gets up – and I immediately bring her outside and set her down. SHe pees right away and as soon as she does, I praise her and bring her in. Then we play for a while….she gets tired and goes to sleep, repeat………….

She has been a very good pup (but then again, I relaly like pups and usually think ALL are good(especially my own))

You are exactly right. It is easier to house train in the winter. The pup does not want to do anything but take care if business and get back inside.
