Had to put my best friend down last night. 13 year old Yellow lab female named Tanner. She was a goose retrieving machine. She used to do 300-400 retrieves a year. Now she can chase them all day long and never get tired. We will miss her greatly!

Sounds like she had a great life on earth…. it’s always hard. What a great pic and perfect to remember her by.

Sorry about the loss of a great hunter! I have a female yellow lab, she is 9. I dred the day when I will have to make that decision. Look at the positives, those long retrieves, or the bird she got that no one expected her to.

    Tim:

My eyes are welling for my two best friends as well as yours. On my third now and she is nine as well. We couldn’t hunt last year because of ACL surgery, looking forward to this year. We had some great hunts the year before that on the Miss. Hoping for a couple more quality years as she seems to be bouncing back reasonably well.

My heart goes out to you & yours, they never do live long enough, but the next one always provides all of the challenges, fun, anxiety, etc. that this one did. God speed buddy on your loss!!!

Thanks to everyone. This was definately the hardest thing I have ever had to do. She had a great life and the memories will last forever. Still the house feels empty. All will heel in time. Thanks for all the support.

We will be looking for a couple of dogs soon. I know for sure at least one pup.

Tim VERY sorry to hear about your loss. It’s never easy having to make that call.

Last spring on opening day of my turkey season all that was running though my mind was at 9:00 am my wife was taking in our springer in to be put to sleep. Holly (wife) said just go hunting. Damn right I left the blind to take Mitzy in to the Vet. I would’ve never forgave my self for not saying “GOOD BY” to my best friend/flushing dog I had.

Tim. Our prayers go out to you.

Don’t mean to reopen a wound, but I just discovered this part of the network and wanted to express my condolences. Tanner sounds like she was a hell of a dog and buddy.
