The last couple days have kind of been scorchers. here are just a few tips to help you during the hot weather. Take walks and do any training early and late in the day. I keep the walks at a slow pace and in the shade. I also walk along rivers where the dogs can cool off anytime they want. Keep training sessions short, 10 to 15 minutes twice a day is plenty. Take water along with you. A collaspable water bowl works great for this. Combine your training into your daily walks. This is a good time to review some obedience commands. Tossing a bumper or two along the way will keep the dog motivated on retrieves. Keep the time in a car or truck to a minimum. These are just a few, feel free to post some of your hot weather tips. Thanks, Don.

Jackson and I have been taking walks in the am and late in the evening. We have been kepting it to a 15-30minn walks. If Jackson is a lucky dog I will even take him for a swim after a walk. While on the walk we work on obedience and have a little fun to along the way. I bring a squirty bottle along filled with water for for him. He looks like a baby drinking from a bottle but it works.

What ever you do, please do not get you’re dog wet then put them into a crate in the back of you’re truck.

For a dog this is just like jumping in a pool then stepping out, putting a jacket on and walking into a steam bath.

The crate stops the dog from drying and the heat cooks the dog.

Better off with a dry dog than a wet dog in a crate.

    Regards,
