The excitement is bouncing off the walls! Hunters are chomping at the bit to get back in the field and down some roosters.
The excitement is going to be there for your dog too. Especially if it’s a young dog. Take a look at some distractions your dog encounter that he has not during training or trips to the game farm.
A few distractions will be from other hunters and dogs plus shooting and downed birds outside your group . You have trained him well but it was controlled with no other hunters or dogs in the field. You may want to start the young dog out on a checkcord until he settles down to all the distractions.
react calmly to mistakes he makes and do not expect him to do something he was not trained on. It is a long season and you will be amazed at how he progresses through it. Be safe and make it fun for both you and your hunting companion .
