Ok here is another one for our panel of experts. I have a female adult lab that has some hunting expierence but was not trained formally. Would it be best to start from the beginning like it is new to hunting or get it evaluated and and work it out as I go?
My answer was to start at the beginning so no steps are missed. This way you will know you got a complete program for a hunting companion. The training will be more accelerated because the dog will be familar with alot of it. What do you think?

I’m going threw the same thing. In January I got My German Shorthair when he was about two years old. I did not know how much trainning he had before. I started from the begining so he would be train the way I wanted him to be. Some of the trainning I did was pretty quick too. As he knew how to do it. I did take him to a game farm fairly soon after I got him to check his nose. So far thing have been going well. I can not wait for it to cool down so we can get back to some field work again.

    I couldn’t agree more Don.
In training / handling other peoples dogs you run in to this all the time. It really is about training the owner as much as the dog.
