Things have been quiet for a few days, must be the weather! Anyway, how is everyone doing with their training?

my dog is a little rusty with the hand signals right now, but I was very surprised with her retrieving in Missouri Snow Goose hunting. She marked the birds so well! It was great to watch.

Yep, after a little lay off it is fun to see them back on birds.

Things had been going well but a leg injury has slowed us as of late. I had him into the vet on monday. I hope it is nothing serious

You had the training going good. What happened to the leg?

It looks like it may have just been a muscle strain or something along those lines. After a good day of work on easter in some slough grass I noticed a little limp. Monday morning he would not even get up without me lifting him. I took him to the vet that morning and the vet thought a possible ligament tear or rip, but he gave me some anti inflamation meds and told me to call back if I saw no improvement in three days. I did see improvement but I called him anyway and he said we could take some x-rays. I decided to wait and see how things go. Well, today I worked with him and all looks good. It must have been something minor but It was scary.

I think I missed the training just as much as he did. I think in the last six months we missed 15 days at the most and it was killing me (us) .

It’s time to get things rolling again.

    Thanks, Bill

Good, glad to hear things are ok. Yep, it is scary when they come up with a limp.

Our training has been proceeding along and was quite enjoyable with this weekend’s perfect weather. We have been mainly working on field work but I will have to get back into the blind retrieve mode soon. Here are a few pictures from this weekends run.

    Breezie on point.

    Samer on point.

    Backing scenario.

We did a little field work this weekend with the Southern MN NAVHDA Chapter and all went well. We also had the opportunity to spend a little time after the field work to let the dogs socialize and play in the water to cool down.
