I agree with the collar.
All my dog needs to feel is the vibrate and she gets the point. No need for the juice once they understand.

I agree as well with the colar. All I have to do is put the colar on the dogs and they know it is business time. I have not had to shock my dogs in a long long time. They get to know very fast what that colar means…pay attention. With the colar, keep in mind you get what you pay for.I would spend the extra few buck and go with tri-tronics.

Ok, seems that using the collar is the way to go. has anyone had any adverse effects such as using it for recall but then the dog quits hunting?

just make sure your dog knows the command and is just blowing you off. if that is the case then the collar will do the trick. increase the stimulation slowly untill you get the desired result. for instance it wont take much when you dog is just loping around the yard but when a fat rooster gets up it will take lots more.its will take a bit to know how much you dog can take in a given sircomstance. if you do it right the dog wont even know the stimulation is comming from you. they will think that is just what happens if they dont obey.
also I agree with Bob on buying quality although I like Dogtra stuff.
good luck

Cory hit the nail on the head with this statement. Make sure your dog know what you are asking before juicing him.

Make sure you are using the smallest amount of stimulation that you can when you are using the collar. The collar should seldom come off number 1 or 2.
You can’t work enough check cord drills to help facilitate the dog not thinking they can blow off a command.
Also – rather than condition you’re dog to coming back to you and creating a safe “hallow” around you’re body which they wont have to worry about stimulation, try to use you’re collar as a steering wheel and turn the dog as you walk a alternate direction, tapping the stimulation and walking away from the dog in you’re desired direction. Keep ‘em moving as much as possible.
Work this turning command before you worry about a come back command and you are less likely to develop a boot licking problem.
