KONG- The best chew toy made. I would not hesitate giving you dog chew toys. He or she will know the difference between their toys and things that they should not chew on..boots etc.

My dogs have actually ingested the Kongs so I don’t use them anymore. I use large rawhide bones but I try to get the naturally cured ones the others are cured with formeldhyde.

August 2, 2006 at 4:46 pm #19058If you are concerned with tooth decay, one option would be to brush his teeth. If you haven’t been checking his teeth and gums on a routine basis he may not like you doing this at first. Start slowly by inspecting his mouth daily and this will help when you actually start to brush them. If you don’t want to go there then introducing chew items shouldn’t be a problem, I don’t see him chewing on other things since it hasnt been in his behavior to do so, if he starts to show interest in chewing things that you don’t want him to, just correct it and give him something to chew
on that is allowed.August 2, 2006 at 4:46 pm #466045If you are concerned with tooth decay, one option would be to brush his teeth. My dog will rip apart the red ones, but he can’t get a good handle on the black one. Also if you would like to give him a chew bone, give him the harder plastic type bones. They last long and they do not leave nasty marks all over the house like the actually leather and pigs ears. They also keep his teeth nice and clean. My dog is 1 1/2 and doesn’t chew on anything around the house. He loves his chew bones and the KONG though.
My dog does however consume a lot of sticks and mulch around the yard. He’s a bit wierd sometimes.
