Here are some pictures of my first dog. I got her two weeks ago. She will be 4 months old on Thursday. I am looking forward to many great days in the woods, fields, and on the water.

She is a yellow lab. I hand picked her because she is so dark. She loves the pheasant wings already.

Hope she flushes as good as her owner. I am sure that she will retreive better.

Remember the more time that you put in the better she will be, kinda like Tara

Ron, I can’t retrieve birds that are still flying. We have to actually hit a bird before I can retrieve it. My biggest fear with the new pup is that I won’t be able to kill any of the birds that she flushes. I will tell Tara that you said hi. By the way she wants everyone to know that it is Dan and Tara’s dog.

I better leave the over/under home on opener, and bring the 11-87 instead. Thats three more shots

Good training and the help of a trainer makes for a lot less agravation in the field. What a cool color for a lab, love the golden tones. I have a yellow and a chocolate, love them to death. If you can find some pigeons I suggest filling the freezer with frozen ones and use those with a deadfowl when training. I ended up sending my pups to school, would suggest it to anyone. Great exercise for them in the winter and it gets them on the right page. Plus a good trainer will train you on how to properly train them so that you aren’t confusing the dog. Well worth every penny.

I have been shooting mudhens when they cruise past my blind. They are about “duck” size and they have long legs that make them easy to throw like dummys.

My pup has been at the trainers off and on here for the last couple months. I will be picking her up on Friday. Last weekend she was skittish around the gun shots and I don’t want that to be a problem. She is very timid to start with. She has been retrieving pigeons and they started her on force fetching. I am saving up my money to send her to Mississippi with the trainer this winter. A month and a half of training would be awesome for her.

I sent both dogs to Dokkens over the winter months, best thing for them. Gets them out in the winter more than I would be able to and keeps them on birds during a time when it is generally hard to also. Both of them now think they are hunting anytime that I am out in a park or a field with them. They really brought out the birdiness in them.
